Please Help Us Expand Our Foundation’s Work

September 25, 2019 | Peter Fedele

The principals of our companies have been involved in philanthropic work in the Village of Nine Mile, St. Ann Parish, Jamaica for years, primarily helping children. We continue to launch initiatives but are looking for support to expand our capabilities. Our goal is to provide comprehensive educational, medical and social services to the town and to help create a long-term, self-sustaining healthy culture.

Located at an elevation of 2,300 feet in the mountains, Nine Mile is a small farming community that suffers from seasonal drought. Over the past 19 years, The Golden Sands Charitable Foundation has been giving back to this small village, where most families live without even the basic resources of water, sanitation and electricity.

Since 2000, the foundation has built the Cedella Marley Booker Basic School. It now houses 3 classrooms, a pavilion, medical office, children’s commissary, indoor and outdoor kitchens, waterless restrooms, and rainwater storage tanks. Our agricultural initiatives and elderly support programs have been instituted as well as supporting two annual health clinics for the entire community. This year we have added a third clinic.

Further, we recently adopted the Rhoden Hall Basic School, which is located nearby in 8 Miles, Jamaica.  Through this round of fundraising, we plan to deliver the same improvements that we made in the original school. These children hold a special place in our hearts as we strive to give them opportunities that every child on earth deserves.

We ask you to help make that possible. Please make any contribution that you can to the Golden Sands Charitable Foundation (a 501 © 3) by sending your donation to Mary Maguire, Golden Sands Charitable Foundation, 2500 NW 39th Street, Miami, FL 33142.

For more information, you can read the overview of our activities and see some of the photos of the precious children we help.

Thank you for your time.
